It's not hard to see - women dig confidence. Confidence isn't just about impressing women, however: it's also about building up your own attitude so that you bring more positive energy to any given interaction. If you're shy but want to build up your confidence, follow these five quick tips.

#1: Face a fear.

Someone once said that fear or nervous energy is just your confident self waiting to come out. Have you ever felt nervous about something - a public speech, a roller coaster, etc. - and spent all sorts of time revelling in that anxiety, only to realize that once the deed is done, you feel 100 times better? That's confidence you can build by facing your fears and realizing there's nothing really to be afraid of.

If you have a fear - even a common one like the fear of flying - work on it, and begin to face it. It will build your overall confidence and you'll realize that you are stronger than you thought.

#2: Get a hobby.

It's one thing to feel shy because you don't think you lead an active life. If you spend all of your time playing video games, you might wonder "Well, what exactly do I bring to the table? Should I bring this woman home with me to play Halo?"

Instead, get a hobby or two that gets you active and outdoors. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant, so long as you have passion about something. People can smell this kind of passion when your favorite hobby is brought up.

#3: Dress better.

You don't want to necessarily rely on your clothes to define you, but if you dress well, there's a good chance your internal state will come up to match it. No one likes feeling underdressed. If you can put together something that shows you have style, you'll feel more confident when you go out.

Don't rely on your clothes, however. Your clothes should be an expression of who you are, not a definition.

#4: Travel.

It's one thing to build confidence and become a ladies man in your area. It's another thing entirely to travel and meet women from all over the world. When you travel to some of the world's most exotic locations, you gain a deeper knowledge of different cultures and it makes the bars and clubs back home seem like a bike with training wheels on it.

You don't have to become Indiana Jones, but make travel a part of your life. Travel alone. Go on vacation and be determined to make your own friends while there.

#5: Realize that you're harder on yourself than anyone else could be.

At some point in this dating game, you'll expose yourself to a lot of rejection. Then you realize, one bad rejection from a girl isn't nearly enough to define you. Because, after all, you've put yourself through far worse than any one woman could do to you with a tongue-lashing.

When you realize this, you start to trust yourself more, and you believe that there are few situations you cannot handle. How would you like to trust yourself when you walk up to that beautiful girl? Do you think that would put you in the right state of mind?
