Ladies Night: Five Dating Tips For Women
Ladies, let’s face it: the dating world usually reserves its best advice for the men in the audience, helping them groom, trim, and be on their best behavior so that they can impress you. That’s all well and good, but if you’re a woman, where can you find some solid dating advice that works for your gender? Look no further.
Tip #1: Improve your physical appearance and then forget it.
It’s well known that men are visual creatures, but that doesn’t mean you’ll want to spruce up just for his sake. No matter how ugly, fat, masculine, or out-of-place you think you look, remember that your outer appearance often mirrors your inner feelings toward yourself. There’s an old axiom in business that says “dress for the job you want.” You should start dressing for the identity you want - the same is true for men.
Once you’ve done that, stop worrying about your looks. Don’t surf on the Web checking the prices for plastic surgery. The most important work you can do to improve your dating life will still be on the inside.
Tip #2: Work on your approachability.
Some women might enter a bar or a restaurant with a cold expression on their face, closed-off body language, and then wonder why men never seem to approach her. Ask yourself this: if you were a man, would you approach you? You’ve got to have approachability.
To improve your approachability, work on some essential social skills: make sure you smile often and that you aren’t uncomfortable striking up idle chat with strangers. But don’t linger with a crowd: remember that men are often intimidated if they see you with someone else in your group, and will often assume that your male friend is in fact your boyfriend. Stay socially conscious of these things and you’ll improve your approachability.
Tip #3: Don’t be afraid to speak your mind.
Sometimes, women give men too much credit: we males aren’t always great at taking a hint. If you have trouble with a date or simply want to express your opinion, express it. Don’t bottle it in simply because it makes you feel like a lady.
If you’re getting bored with a guy’s relentless interview-style questions, tell him you want to change the topic to something more exciting. You might be surprised at how this spices up the conversation.
Tip #4: If he won’t lead, nudge him in the right direction.
If you really like a guy but he doesn’t quite seem to make any big moves or take the lead, don’t be afraid to nudge him in the right direction. For example, if you want him to put his arm around you, snuggle up to him. If you want to kiss him, put your face within kissing range.
There can be a problem when a man fails to take the lead totally, and if this is the case, then it gives you an indication about the kind of guy you’re dating. Either way, you might have a win-win situation.
Tip #5: Avoid talking about the ex.
As soon as you bring up an ex-boyfriend, your date will start to make assumptions. Are you not quite over your previous relationship? Are you trying to send the guy some sort of message? Even if your ex is still on your mind a lot, you might want to avoid an ex-boyfriend as the subject of a conversation.
Similarly, take it as a warning sign if the man you’re dating talks a lot about his ex-girlfriend. If you’ve been avoiding the subject but he can’t, it may be time to move on.
Ellen Pompeo vs Katherine Heigl
These two women might be the only two reasons to watch Grey’s Anatomy - I wouldn’t know, I haven’t seen it. But, hey, at least they know how to cast female leads!
Marisa Miller vs Marisa Tomei
Not only do these two women share the same name, they spell it the exact same way. That makes my job so much easier. Which Marisa is your favorite?
